Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

This year Cody and I both had to work during Christmas so we weren't able to make it home. It was weird not being with family and didn't really feel like Christmas until this morning when we woke up to open presents. But even though it was just us two we still had a lot of fun and got a lot of really fun things! One of our favourite gifts was this nativity from my parents. I have been wanting a nice nativity to put out at Christmas and this is going to look so nice every year.

I got a lot of great things but this bracelet from Cody is probably the nicest. I really love it! It is so pretty and looks so good.

Meet Larry...

Larry is the newest addition to our little family. Larry is Cody's new fish. We don't know if it is a boy or a girl but we love Larry all the same.

Cody's mom gave us a little Christmas tree made entirely out of Peacock feathers and it is pretty neat. It will be fun to put that out every year.

Ruby and Nibbles had a lot of fun too! They loved their stockings and spent all day playing with their new toys and chewing on their new treats! I know they don't know what is going on but they loved it all the same! Ruby has seemed a bit depressed lately staying in the house alone all day and not being able to run around outside and today she was so happy!

We got a lot of fun things this year but of all the gifts I received my favorite and most memorable gift was one from my Grandpa Wilde. My Grandpa is a very creative person and has spent most of his life inventing and building all sorts of amazing things. He is very kind hearted and has always been a wonderful example to me. My Grandpa is starting to get older now and isn't able to use his skills as well as he used to but he still enjoys spending time in his work shop. This year he made money clips for each of his Grand-children. It is a piece of leather folded in half with my name written on the front in felt pen and a clip on the inside to hold the money. It isn't glamourous or anything but as my mom wrote in the card for him, it was made with love. That is the most important thing and of all things that I have received from my Grandpa this is probably the one that had the biggest impact on me and is a treasure that I will keep forever. I love my Grandpa very much!

Another fun thing this year was that I got to talk to Steve for about 2 minutes! I wasn't able to be home when my parents called him and I was pretty sad about it but he said it would be ok if I called to say Merry Christmas so I did! It was so fun just to hear his voice. Steve and I have always been real close and I miss having him around but I am very proud of him!

Well now Christmas is almost over and Cody is gone back to work. We are very lucky to have all that we do and are grateful for all our many blessings this year!

New Bedroom Furniture

After 3 months of total chaos in our bedroom we finally made a trip to IKEA and got some furniture. I have never been so happy and excited about a dresser before. It is so nice to have somewhere to put our things and have a little organization. Plus my tv looks really good on it!

Cody was excited because he got some shelves to put his records on so now he can keep those organized and in better shape. It's also the perfect spot for all of his little trinkets.

And lastly probably one of our favorite buys was our new picture we bought to hang above the bed. It is a picture of LA so of course Cody instantly fell in love because that is by far his absolute favorite place to be. I really like that it is all black and white except for the lights on the highways.

Here is a close up of the picture. We had a heck of a time getting that thing back home to Fort McMurray. It took us about 25 minutes to maneuver this thing into the car! Good thing it is a canvas and has some bend in it otherwise there would have been no hope. There was a lady sitting in the car next to us at IKEA and she was laughing hysterically watching us. It took us another 20 minutes trying to get the thing out of the car but we are really happy with our new furniture and are excited to finally have a nice, CLEAN room.

A Christmas Story!

This year as an early Christmas present to myself, I found the perfect puzzle to add to my collection.

Haha, who doesn't love the classic movie "A Christmas Story"? As soon as I saw this in the store I knew I had to get it. I'm thinking maybe I should glue it together and frame it...Who doesn't want a 3 ft replica of the Old Man Mr. Parker's famous leg lamp hanging on their wall??

Winter is here!

Winter has officially arrived! It's snowy and FREEZING cold and with a mall that only takes about 20 minutes to walk through we tend to spend any free time we might have at home and indoors. And, what better way to spend our time than playing our new favourite game...

!!

I hadn't heard very good reviews about it but if any of you know how much I like Guitar Hero you can probably guess that I have thoroughly enjoyed DJ Hero almost as much so far. I got a pretty awesome deal on it the other day so I picked it up and Cody and I are both enjoying it! It should be a good winter!

Scribblish!

I hope that my family is ready to play this...

SCRIBBLISH

Which looks like this...

At this...

GAME NIGHT

Which may end up looking something like this...

During this...

CHRISTMAS

Which will look just like this...

The point I'm trying to make is that everyone in my family should practice up their drawing skills because I'm thinking our new game this year for family game night at Christmas should be Scribblish! I think it looks like it could be a lot of fun! Can't wait to come home and get together with everyone again. The countdown has begun!

Pumpkins!

In celebration of Cody's favorite holiday, Halloween, we spent an afternoon carving pumpkins! It was a lot of fun! This year we decided to try actually carving out our images instead of cutting through the whole pumpkin. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Here are our two best pumpkins! Unfortunately I couldn't get a good enough picture of them lit up, but they look awesome when they are! Mine is the one on the left and if you can't tell, it's E.T.  Cody's pumpkin, on the right, is a picture of Jason's mask, from the Halloween movies.  We won't be doing too much to celebrate Halloween this year. Cody will be working all weekend and the only thing I have planned is the trunk-or-treat at the church tonight. I'm taking chili! If their Halloween party is anything like Welling's then it should definately be a good time!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Babies...

Who needs 'em?!?! When you've got a dog and a cat like these two, babies are the last thing on your mind.

This is a picture of our dog Ruby and our cat Nibbles. They seem harmless and cute sure but as soon as night hits I swear it is their sole purpose to keep Cody and I from sleeping! They are just like having babies. They whine and scratch to get out of the bedroom so we let them out. 3 minutes later they whine and scratch to get back in the bedroom. I'm up at least 6 times a night battling with them to go back to bed. I have to get up to let Ruby out because she is thirsty. They climb all over the bed trying to get comfortable and pushing us out to the edges so we have the least amount of room possible. The other day I had to grab Ruby mid-poo off the carpet while I was visiting with some girls from the ward. Usually she runs to the door and lets me know she needs to go outside but when she really has to go, she means business. And after we finally get them to settle down the cat starts playing with anything she can find that makes a lot of noise, such as plastic bags! And then the whole charade starts again. After battling this all night, 5 AM comes way too quickly when its time to wake up and for Cody to head off to work. They should be nick-named the night terrors. But they don't care! Right now it is the middle of the day and Cody is at work and I'm trying not to fall asleep so I won't be late for work and both Nibbles and Ruby are curled up in their cozy corners fast asleep without a care in the world. So if anyone is wondering when we will be starting a family of our own, I would tell you not to count on it to be anytime soon!

Post for Mom

Mom check out the pillow case I made today. I didn't have enough material to do two of the big rectangle ones so i decided halfway through to make it for the little pillow instead. I am pretty impressed with it! It is actually too big but you can't really tell while its on the bed anyways so i didn't bother to try and fix it. But ya...I pretty much made up the pattern as I went along. What do you think??

Wedding Part 2

We got our wedding pictures back from our photographer and we couldn't be happier with how they turned out! Big thanks to Angie Higa and her good friend Kyla! Here are just a few of the hundreds, literally, of pictures we received.
