17 1/2 Weeks

I've given in and taken a few pregnancy pictures to show how big I am starting to get. My belly has popped out during the past couple of weeks and continues to grow.

I still think I just look extra flabby around the middle but Cody tells me I look like I'm pregnant not fat. Hopefully he isn't just lying to make me feel better...

Homecoming, Pregnancy and Emergency Surgery

Last wednesday this guy came home from his mission. Steve was gone for 2 years serving in Toronto and although I am proud of the work he did, I was really excited to have him come home. We've always been pretty close and I've missed having him around. I was able to go home on Thursday to see him and visit for almost a whole week! I headed home on the Red Arrow bus and after 14 hours, 2 transfers, and making my changeover to greyhound with just minutes to spare, I finally arrived in windy Lethbridge. It was so nice to get home. I miss being down there.
I did a lot of visiting with my family and was able to listen to Steve talk in church at his homecoming. It was an awesome talk and it made me even more proud! I was able to do some shopping, see some friends, and hang out at home eating ice cream and laying on the heater just like the good old days.

I flew back yesterday morning, and even though I did enjoy the bus because I could sit back, watch movies, and just relax, I much prefer to fly because it only takes about 2 hours flight time. It was nice. I am now 16 weeks pregnant, which is 4 months. Over the past week my belly really popped out and I am starting to look pregnant now. Even Cody was surprised when he picked me up at the airport at how much I had grown just in the week I was at home. I bought some maternity clothes, including my first pair of maternity jeans which I love and am considering wearing exclusively forever. They are so comfortable! I am still doing well and feeling great. I am starting to get some carpal tunnel in my hands during the night. They take turns falling asleep so I have to keep turning over to give them each a break. I have a feeling it is only going to get worse in the next 5 months. But otherwise things are great!

When I got home yesterday morning my little Ruby was having a hard time peeing. She would squat every few minutes and try but nothing would come out except a few bloody drops so I took her to the vet that afternoon thinking she had a bladder infection and we would come home with some antibiotics and she would feel better soon. The vet didn't think it sounded like just an infection so they did x-rays and lo and behold she had big bladder stones that were blocking her from being able to pee. They scheduled her right away for emergency surgery this morning. She had a pretty uncomfortable night but this morning we took her in at 8:00 to get prepped and ready for surgery. They did the procedure and when it was all done they called to let us know that she was doing well. They found 4 stones the size of thumb nails that would have never passed and 2 smaller ones, which is a lot considering her bladder is just tiny. She is still at the vet clinic being monitered and on IV fluids until she is well enough to come home, which we are hoping is tomorrow. We went to check on her tonight and saw her for a few minutes but she was in a lot of pain and couldn't really move. She just cried but looked a little bit out of it still, probably from her pain meds. It was really sad to see but I am glad she is doing well and hope she can come home soon so I can cuddle her.

This year has already been crazy busy with lots of exciting things and lots of surprises but it's going to be a really great year. We can't wait until July!
