4 Months

We can't believe Brady is already 4 months old! Brady is growing fast. He has already doubled his birth weight and is somewhere around 14-14.5 lbs depending on which scale you put him on. He is almost in the 50th percentile of weight for his age but is still small. He has finally upgraded to 3-6 month clothing in everything except pants.

Brady loves his dad. Every night Cody gets home just in time to play for about 45 minutes before its time to get ready for bed and he loves it. He laughs and laughs and then is really ready to sleep when he goes down.

Brady and Ruby are best friends!

He is getting pretty good at sitting with support. He has also really started to play with his toys and LOVES to put them in his mouth. He is constantly trying to chew on everything, maybe he is starting to show signs of teething already. He especially likes to chew on his Sophie giraffe and plastic chains.

He still loves to be read to and look at books and his new favourite games are Peek-A-Boo and when we blow on his tummy to make fart noises, I don't know what that is called, but he loves it!

Brady has rolled over a few times now front to back and is still working on going the other way.

Bath time is his favourite thing to do. He loves to kick his legs and splash the water and will lay in the tub for hours if we would let him. He never fusses and smiles the whole time, until he has to get out, then it's a race to get him lotioned, diapered and dressed before he loses it.

Brady has started something new this past week. He won't go to sleep unless his is laying on his side. And if he gets turned onto his back I will often find him like this trying to crane his neck and turn back up. He used to be a really good sleeper during the night but this week has been really bad. Last night he was up 6 times between 11 and 7 and he will only take 25 minute naps during the day. I'm not sure if something is bothering him or if he is just growing a lot right now, but we will persevere and hope it gets better because mommy is getting really tired!!

Loving his Mickey Mouse pajamas

All bundled up and ready to brave the cold snowy weather
Last night we carved pumpkins. Mine is the baby one and Cody's is Frankenstein who had an unfortunate loss of his right eye. He accidentally carved it off. He was pretty disappointed but it provided us with hours of laughs!

And here is Brady at 4 months with his special pumpkin to commemorate his first Halloween!

Busy Weekend

This weekend was really busy but full of really awesome experiences. We left town Sunday and headed down to Edmonton for a non stop quick getaway. Sunday night we left Brady at my sister's house (which we are super grateful for...thanks Em and Trev!) and went out on our first date together since he was born. This is where we went.

Rush is a Canadian band that has been together for something like 38 years. I think they are more from my Dad's era than mine but they are one of if not the number one of Cody's favorite bands and it has been on his bucket list for years to see them live in concert. A few months back I heard they were coming to Edmonton and being the awesome wife that I am, I surprised him with floor tickets for his birthday.

This is the drummer of the band Neil Peart. He is a big reason why Cody loves the band. Cody is a drummer and Neil Peart is, as I've been told, one of the greatest drummers of all time. We had a ton of fun at the concert and I have to say, for as old as these guys are (they are all age 59-60) they are still really amazing at what they do.

The next morning we all slept in until about 10:30, even Brady wasn't ready to get up yet

When we did finally get ourselves together we got back in the car and headed to Calgary. It was a pretty frustrating drive. It took an hour and a half just to get from South Common to just before Nisku because they were filling cracks in the highway at noon and traffic was all backed up, needless to say we should have been at least 3/4 of the way to Calgary by the time we even left the city and Cody was not too impressed. Once we did finally get there though we were able to go to the Calgary Temple open house and all the hassle of driving was worth it.

The temple was absolutely beautiful and it was an amazing experience to be able to go with my family and see it. The spirit was so strong and I think I can say without a doubt that we all felt it very strongly. We left Calgary right after the open house and headed back to Edmonton. It was a long trip to just spend 2 hours in the city but the reason we went was totally worth it all. Its amazing all the effort and thought that goes into all the little details inside the temple.

The next morning we had to go to the bank, which took forever and then finally we were back on the road heading north to Fort McMurray. It was such a full non-stop travelling trip, but its always nice to get away.
